I love old movies. Like, really old (black and white status), like the kind they play on TMC. Yesterday, I re-watched Sabrina which I hadn't seen since I watched it with my mom as a kid. Now as an adult, understanding the plot and witty banter makes the film that much more enjoyable. True, it's the cliche, stylized Hollywood fairy-tale, but the well-delivered dialouge, old-fashioned slapstick humor and costuming make up for that and I was left with warm-fuzzies and a cheesy grin by the time the end credits rolled. 'Cause really, what girl doesn't love a good fairy tale? Oh, to have a couple of millionaires fight over me then end up sailing away to Paris with the better of the two...

There's a certain grace and enviable poise about the actresses of this era in film making. Audrey Hepburn (the star Sabrina) is one such lady and she's fascinating to watch in all her movies. She might be most known for her role in Breakfast of Tiffany's. While it's widely know that Givenchy designed the dresses for the latter film, Sabrina is the first Hepburn film he was involved. Although there's a bit of controversy about the costume designing for this film, it is Givenchy who is responsible for all the beautiful outfits Hepburn's character, Sabrina Fairchild, is seen in upon her return from Paris. The idea was to convey Sabrina's sophistication and maturity gained from her stay abroad and Givenchy's gowns communicate this idea beautifully. He went on to create pieces for several other of Hepburn's films and was counted a close, life-long friend.

It's never too early to start planning your holiday party attire. (for me this is a year-round thing!) Earlier this week, I was tipped off via a fellow Instagram user about the collection of beautiful pieces Free People did for the upcoming soiree season and I HAD to share in case you haven't seen 'em yet.

They are stunning and anything but the average party dress i.e. the little bedazzled cocktail number. (NOT THAT I"M AGAINST BEDAZZLEMENT! duh.)

Get one of these hot tamales and it's a sure thing that no other girl at the party will be wearing the same dress as you.

Seriously though, the dresses are jaw-dropping, show-stopping, pretty-as-a-princess AMAZINGNESS!

Someone lend me a few grand so I can get them all...

I mentioned how much I loved the Hurley for Pendleton jacket a while back.

Drawstring waist.
Not exactly figure-flattering but the sheer loveliness/uniqueness/"no one else in town has this" factor
out-weighted that.

If there was something besides fashion that I could spend my money on, it would be music.

The two are intertwined anyway...

I've recently started listening to several different bands/artists/projects that I've actually discovered through research done for my AAU fashion journalism class.

One of these new music/fashion icons of mine is Justin Tratner, the Archangel of Glamour and Rock & Roll. Also known as the frontman for Semi Precious Weapons. (You might know this band from their role in Lady Gaga's latest tour.)

Meet Justin. Sigh...so amazing.

Besides being a fabulous rockstar, Justin is also the designer of his jewelry line, Fetty of Brooklyn.
